Sushi

Hi, it'd been exactly a week since I last updated my blog ay. I'm sorry that I chose assignments over blogspot. Not really.

I do like to update my blog though.

I've been trying to sleep in lately as well. Atleast till nine or something. So desperate that I taped cotton pads onto my eyes before I go to bed. It didn't work out and I still woke up at seven. Nah, I was kidding. Why would I do that. ..Maybe

I sort of feel depressed. Maybe it's because Fridays are always depressing, and then it carries on till I go out, but I didn't. Oh well, I'm going to school tomorrow anyway. Bernard felt depressed as well. Maybe he passed it on to me when I had physics with him last on friday. It's like a flu.

STAYING AT HOME IS SO BORING.
This weekend I did nothing but my math assignment and english speech.
WELL...I hupa-hooped, skipped rope, tried to lure my neighbour's cat with milk, and MADE SUSHI:

THE ULTIMATE JESSICA TERIYAKI CHICKEN ROLL
with avocado and mayo
I got the idea from the sushi cook book birthday pressent that Vico gave me a while ago <3 :

They call it the inside-out Califonia roll.
I had to eat like eight of these for lunch, because no one was home.
Never making sushi again when Jono isn't here.

I don't know why, but I was really obsessed when I saw this at Forever New the other day, so I bought it. Pink makes me happy.

My dad kept calling me today as well. He called me four times, when I made sushi.
I burnt the first teriyaki sauce :/

15th AUGUST 2010 cake

HELLO, you know how I've been practicing sponge cakes?

THE ULTIMATE JESSICA STRAWBERRY SPONGE
Excuse my bad photography. It seemed a bit plain so I just chucked the remaining strawberries around the table.
This time I have combined a Master Chef recipe (for the chocolate hazelnut praline filling), a Nestle recipe (for the chocolate glaze), a modified internet recipe (for the sponge), and my own (:(which was the design yayayay)

chocolate sponge cake mixture

sponge cake egg white
I made five layers of sponge cakes, just in case:

failed #1 too thick

failed #2 way too thick and broken

YAY nice and thin

Preparing the hazelnut praline for the chocolate filling.
I processed them in the blender.

Hehe, I was measuring my strawberries.

Chocolate hazelnut filling or moose or whatever. It looks like a giant cookie. (:

Mascapone cream (Y)

I forgot to place in some strawberry slices, so I removed the top sponge and did it again.

Now it looks more like it.

Nestle chocolate glaze, then top it with strawberries.

I like dusting icing sugar.

A cream ring to lift up the swirls later on.

I like doing swirls :D

Decorate it with choco~

This is how I made those chocolate pieces on top:
1.melt chocolate
2.spread on baking sheet with brush

3.chill them in fridge
4.break them apart randomly and place on cake

TADA~!

OH YER BY THE WAY, this is what Enderson is for:

He makes an awesome cake box

EKKA HOLIDAY 2

SO, of course you go to the Ekka on the EKKA HOLIDAY!

I feel very lazy lately, so instead of meeting up early with my friends, I decided to go a bit later.

Going out:

GOOD MORNING

My really deserted bus stop

I finally have half of Zoe's skills, except I blinked.
It was really sunny and warm, but very windy at the same time.

ANYWAYS, I actually arrived to the Ekka earlier than I expected
We walked around in the Showbag Pavilion for awhile. Vico bought quite a few showbags for her family. After deciding that we weren't going to buy anything for ourselves, I went to eat a dagwood dog. They taste the best in Ekka.

I ate a dagwood dog.
I ate an irish cream fudge.
I ate a free Yogo from the Yogo man.
I ate an okonomiyaki.
I ate a strawberry while I chopped them.
I ate a State High strawberry Sundae.
I ate a lemon and passion fruit macaroon.
I ate a Coon cheese toast.

I'm the best

We actually didn't do much. Walked around for a bit, played a game and took photos with:

THE YOGO MAN. The yogo woman gave us free Yogo afterwards.

Little kids holding their free Yogo
Nah, I ate them as well. (:

Our okonomiyai. Vico and I shared, because it was very big. It's a Japanese pancake like dish with cabbage and additional prawns. It tasted very authentic. Much better than the cheapo ones from the Buddha Festival, which were deep fried.

THEN, we started out shift for the State High Sundaes. It was alright. I chopped strawberries for four hours, but Vico and Hayley had to do the ice cream scooping. We worked nonstop, because we had a never-ending que of people waiting to buy sundaes.

After four hours of hardwork, we were rewarded:

Mr STRAWBERRY SUNDAES
The strawberries tasted extra good, because I cut them. (:

Stonned.

AFTERWARDS, we walked around for a bit and ate Coon cheese toasts. THEN, we went home.

WELL, let me introduce you my new best friend #2:

PETERSON
the cotton candy.
It is very big
and it is pink

I really really wanted to open it on the train and just stare at it. Vico said that I would drop it, and I thought so as well, so I didn't. I made a wise decision.
It is still sitting on my desk, untouched (:
I don't know what to do with it.

I love Peterson so much.

EKKA HOLIDAY 1

HI, long time no blog.
On wednesday I went out with my friends. The guys decided that they wouldn't play tekken so we went to sing K. With my half dead voice.

I don't look very nice when I sing.

WELL, I feel so much better now, but I still sound a bit sick. My aunt made caramel sauce for ice cream sundaes...I ate them every night and also this morning before I ate my breakfast. My oatmeal was pretty tasteless, because of the ice cream's sweetness. Oh well.

What the some of us did, when we weren't singing.

ANYWAYS, after karaoke, everyone went to watch Inception. Allen and I have seen it before already so we just ate lunch. I dunno why, but they had butter chicken at the kebab shop. Their butter chicken had no chicken left as well. The shop keeper felt really bad and so we gave me a lot of those chicken from kebabs. oo

After that, we BATTLED:

I killed him

We were waiting for the others to come out, but in the end, I had to go. I left them.

-THE END-

OH ACTUALLY...Let me introduce you my new best friend:

ENDERSON
We shopped for soooooooooo long around the city trying to find him. Well, I will explain him to you in another day.

August Flu

I'm so lucky that I get a sore throat every year around the ekka, ay. I still remember how my friends and I sang Nobody at the karaoke last year till my voice died (:

ANYWAYS

Nice grass

Nice girls

Nice people

WELL, that was the Japanese Farewell party on friday. The Japanese students are going back to Gifu this sunday. I'm going to miss them. They wrote me letters though (: The teacher suddenly made us sing our school song. Sad. It was lucky that Hans had his diary with him, so we shared.

SIGH, I just had my last butter menthol. What am I going to suck on now...

Happy

My mummy called me today. (:

ANYWAYS, Jono cooked the other day, because my aunt wasn't here:

Some cream based linguine with smoked salmon. It was sad that the salmon cooked itself when he tossed them around in the pan.
Things always differ from what they should have looked like:

ANYHOW, it tasted soooooooooo good ^____^, because he made it. He makes good lemon chicken as well.

ANYWAYS, my aunt came home tonight, but he didn't come home...so I COOKED.

They always look bad, because they are eggplants.

Hello

So many things is going on in my head right now.
ANYWAYS, I havn't been blogging lately because...I'll just give you the usual, "I've been busy." (:..
well............. few big things that happened in the last few days:

-The jap exchange students
-Attempt to try and perfect a few sponge cakes
-I met a woman that I couldn't keep my eyes off from
-I swore at somebody, like at them, because I was very angry...I'm sorry
I feel really guilty. I won't do it again. Sorry

Do you understand now?

Maybe not..

WELL, something happy...I was on the master chef website the other day and I found a crepe recipe. It was Gary's:

As expected, mine is nothing compared to his. It looks messy and gross. However, the crepe did taste really really good :D I dislike the sauce though. An orange sauce, which reminded me of cough lollies...maybe I made it weird.

I also made tiramisu:

They turned out to be slightly salty. The greek yoghurt I used was salty. It wasn't off or anything and it was new and sealed properly. I don't know why the yoghurt was like this and I didn't realise till after I finished making it and taking photos. Well, I bought yoghurt from another brand and will certainly make it again.

I also wanted to experiment with sponge cakes in different sizes and get the proportions right:
I made a big round one at first.

Then A small round one.

Then a big square one.

Then even a moon shaped one!

I'm glad to have Jono. He eats everything.
